Mariko NAKAHARA

Mariko Nakahara is a first year PhD student in CHAD focusing on comparative legal studies of child abuse through the utilisation of anthropological research methods.

Mariko holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Anthropology, which focused on Japanese Anthropology and child abuse. Prior to this Mariko worked in the human rights and litigation law firms in the UK for a number of years.

Mariko’s research explores the approaches towards sentencing of perpetrators within criminal proceedings within different countries and assesses the balance between the children's and perpetrators' human rights.
